PLEASE NOTE: Once correctly assembled by the bicycle manufacturer, it is the headset /stem clamp bolts that hold the handlebars in place and therefore require appropriate torqued fitting. The bolt and Cask Finery headset cap DO NOT hold everything together. In fact you can ride your bike safely without a headset cap if the manufacturere has correctly tightened the stem clamps.

If you ever need to adjust the bearings in your headset - please use your original headset cap and bolt - then replace with your Cask Finery headset cap when you have finished.

Bolts

Find section of packaging with ‘BOLTS INSIDE’

Separate from rest of packaging base.

Slide out the headset bolt and/or bar end expansion plug.

  1. Remove current headset cap and recycle if possible.

  2. Fit the new M6 bolt through Cask Finery headset cap and use an M6 allen key to very gently screw headset in place.

  3. Ensure you GENTLY HAND TIGHTEN until firmly in place.

  4. Do not over tighten and remember that the headset cap does not hold the handbars to the bike - the stem clamps do.

Fitting the headset cap

Fitting the bar end caps

Remove current bar ends caps (recycle if possible) and unscrew small black hex nut from M5 bolt.

Place the Cask Finery bar ends cap on the bolt followed by the rubber plug, washer and black hex nut.

Ensure the hexagon-shaped indentation face the nut and screw until washers, rubbers and caps can no longer slide.

Insert rubber plug into bar end and gently hand tighten bolts until secure.

Maintenance

Cask Finery accessories are crafted from American or European oak whisky barrels which have been used to mature Scotch Whisky. The oak is hard and durable but Cask Finery is a natural product that should be cared for. That’s why we apply natural bio-based oil to all our Cask Finery to weatherproof it.

It is important that YOU care for your Cask Finery too by wiping any resting water off the accessories if you’ve been riding in the rain and don’t leave your bicycle in the rain for prolonged periods (not that we think you would…)

Consider applying oil as required to maintain your Cask Finery.

If you ever need to adjust the bearings in your headset - please use your original headset cap and bolt - then replace with your Cask Finery headset cap and bolt when you have finished.
